On May 5 and 6, 2026, the fifth PrimePrevention consortium meeting took place, hosted with energetic and friendly support by the partner team at GEOMAR in Kiel. The event brought project partners together in person to discuss current progress and set the strategic direction for the project's second phase.

The first day began with presentations from the individual project partners regarding the status of their respective sub-projects. Participants presented and discussed results achieved to date, progress on planned activities, and upcoming milestones and deliverables leading up to the conclusion of the first phase. These contributions provided a comprehensive overview of the status of the various work packages and facilitated in-depth technical exchange among the partners. Additionally, the topics of Open Science and Open Data were addressed; the group discussed the requirements, challenges, and opportunities associated with making research data openly and sustainably available, as well as fostering collaboration both within and across projects.

The second day focused on preparations for the second project phase. Designated work package leaders gave brief presentations outlining the planned activities and key thematic areas for Phase II. Subsequent discussions aimed to identify cross-links and synergies between work packages and to clarify outstanding questions regarding the further structuring of project activities. Another key focus was the joint coordination of the main proposal for Phase II. Participants discussed open issues, aligned on content and documentation, and established the next steps for finalizing the proposal.

The consortium meeting offered numerous opportunities for scientific exchange, the collaborative refinement of the project strategy, and the coordination of future steps. It once again underscored the importance of close cooperation among project partners for a successful transition into the second project phase.
