MULTI-MAREX Third Symposium

On 19 and 20 May 2026, the partner institutions of the MULTI-MAREX consortium, mission mareXtreme, came together at GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel for the 2026 Annual Meeting.

The two-day meeting focused on presentations of current scientific results, cross-project exchange and strategic preparation for the next project phase. Following an overview of the current project status and the milestones achieved, the progress made in the various work packages was presented.

Another key focus was the strategic direction of Phase II. Technological developments, future research priorities and the further development of common goals within the context of the German High-Tech Agenda were discussed, thereby strengthening the exchange between the various institutions. The poster session and the numerous discussions during the breaks and the joint networking dinner also provided opportunities for new ideas, concept development and collaborations.

After more than two years of joint project work, the Annual Meeting marked an important milestone for MULTI-MAREX and offered a promising outlook for further collaboration in Phase II. A heartfelt thank you to all participants for the engaging contributions and discussions, and to GEOMAR for the excellent organisation!
